Lancaster PA Internet Marketing

It's interesting how many companies when it comes to their website believe "build it and they will come!" That would be wonderful if that's all there was to starting an internet business. Unfortunately, failure to consider the internet marketing strategy is much like building a brick and mortar business without a front door. No one will know how to get to you. Until the current economic slowdown, many companies have been satisfied with the leads being generated though many sources. Spending money--or the time--to build online traffic through a structured marketing program wasn't a top priority until now.

Relative Links and Keywords

lancaster internet marketingTimes have changed. Many of Artspell's Lancaster and Pennsylvania customers are asking the question, "How do I get more visitors to my website?" And, more appropriately, they're asking "What internet marketing is available that will help to drive 'relative' traffic to my site?"

Relativity matters in a couple ways when it comes to marketing a website and getting the site listed in the top results of a search engine. The top search engine--Google--uses a complicated algorithm to determine a site's ranking. Google takes into consideration the number of back links leading to your site coming from websites that are related, or "relative", to your business or organization.

Using link farms and link generating automation can actually harm your website by establishing links from completely unrelated businesses. Relative keywords are just as important as relative links. Many companies use hundreds of keywords--thinking that it's better to cover every possible subject. Unfortunately, not using targeted, relative keywords dilutes the effectiveness of any and all keyword use. And optimizing keyword use on each page is another factor used in Google's ranking algorithm.

Internet Marketing - Organic or Pay-per-Click?

There are really two ways to market on the internet--through pay-per-click programs and organic search results. The best internet marketing endeavor employs a combination of both. "Organic" results are the search results based purely on the keyword(s) used by potential customers. It is always better to get on the front page in the organic results because people are much more likely to click the organic results than the pay-per-click ads.

The other benefit of "organic" results of course is that it costs you nothing when the customer clicks on the link that takes them to your website. Of course, ranking well organically means investing a great deal of time developing a website that is keyword optimized and has relative inbound links. Paying for clicks makes sense when there is just too much competition for a specific keyword or keyword phrase.
